Insulated glass units, Thermopane, and double-pane windows all refer to the same thing. An insulated unit consists of two pieces of glass held together by a spacer, with air between the panes. This air acts as a barrier for your home. Insulated units help to maintain the heat in your home better than single pane windows.
If you notice a soft, fogged look or moisture between the glasses, the seal has been compromised. Often times you will fail a home inspection just because of fog in an insulated unit. The best fix for this is to replace the glass.
Insulated units can either be clear or have bars placed on the inside. These bars are called muntin bars. Muntin bars come in white or bronze, and their thickness can vary.
